"About Thanksgiving Hymns"
Volume 8
“Thanksgiving Hymns”
contains tunes and verses for 70 songs of praise and thankfulness.
It is replete with devotional works on the great theme of
Thanksgiving. They are inspirational for the piper desiring to
improve his or her ability to lead a congregation in praise through
music. A considerable repertoire of suitable hymns is needed, and
also the presence of God’s Spirit in one’s heart. His Word says, “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a
worshipper of God, and doeth His will, him He heareth.”
John
9:31. If God isn’t going to hear our music, then the music would be
meaningless.
These hymns express our thankfulness to those who have achieved our
freedom, and to those who have immortalized our patriotic love of
country and friends in music. We must strive continuously towards
brotherly love the world over, while praising God for His
everlasting love, even though we don’t deserve it.
God is to be praised for our wonderful country and its freedom, for
our good health, minds, and bodies, and for prosperity. These hymns
will help to rededicate our lives to the great purpose for which God
made us, which is to glorify Him always, and forever, in all we do.
We can be thankful for our freedom, and consequent enjoyment of the
finest things in life; our families, the brotherhood of Christians,
skills in music, art, and writing, our knowledge, and enjoyment of
all that God has provided, and especially His sanctuary in sad
times.
The intention of “Thanksgiving Hymns,” is to encourage
all pipers who will be leading congregations in praise, to do so
with Christ’s Spirit and thanksgiving in their hearts, with faith
that God will hear from Heaven, and will listen as He is receives
praise for all His wonderful works.
