The wonderful messages in these 79 beautiful Christmas Carols will
excite the most confident and proficient Church Piper. He or she will
play with all heart’s desire, in praise of our loving and gracious God,
whose plan it was to enter this world as a tiny baby in a humble manger.
Pipers will welcome this collection of Christmas Carols, because the
festive season brings many requests to play the traditional Yuletide
carols.
Banquets, concerts and Sunday services are all occasions upon which the
skirl of the bagpipes will be heard playing, “O Come All Ye Faithful,”
or “Hark The Herald Angels Sing,” proclaiming the birth of Christ, the
Son of Righteousness, who was born that man no more may die.”
Christmas Carols would not be complete without the words, so they have
been included. Thinking of them while playing will assist immeasurably
in accomplishing good articulation and expression. The correlation of
Scripture verses with each carol brings the Bible’s story of the
nativity to reality.
These Christmas carols may be arranged into medleys that will flow
easily from one carol to the next. There are eighty-one of them in this
book, each a tribute to our Lord, who loved us so much that He provided
the example for us to love one another just as he loved us.
Each carol has been arranged to provide the most satisfactory fingering
and the best tone from the pipes; for the consequent exhilaration of the
piper, who according to his or her own individual skill, will relate the
words of the poet, and the music of the composer in extraordinary
worship of our Lord.
Whether one chooses, “Away in a Manger,” “There’s a Son in the Air!”
“The Star of the East,” or “The First Noel,” the wonderful messages in
these beautiful Christmas carols excite the most confident and
proficient Church Piper, to play with all the desire in his or her
heart, in praise of our loving and gracious God, whose plan it was to
enter this world as a tiny baby in a humble manger.
Many of these carols are old and familiar, while some are relatively
new, but each presents its challenge to the conscientious Church Piper,
to play his or her best, with adoration for God. Perchance he or she may
not yet have met Christ in a personal way, and be searching for Him,
like those men of old, in the hymn, “Wise Men Seeking Jesus,” only to
find Him already, “close at hand.” “For He seeketh in our hearts to
dwell.”
With this book of Christmas Carols, may I wish you, from the bottom of
my heart, A Very Merry Christmas.
